NASPL '10 Awards Information

Awards Categories

Batchy Awards are presented to NASPL members for outstanding advertising and business communication achievements.  This award is named in honor of the late Ralph Batch, elected as NASPL’s first president in 1971.  It was through his efforts that the advantages of exchanging information and collaborating on joint ventures between lotteries were first recognized.

Hickey Awards are given for excellence in promotional and strategic marketing.  These awards are named in honor of the late Owen Hickey, and industry leader who is remembered for the creative development of unique promotion and public relations techniques for the lottery industry.

Delegates Awards are presented for outstanding design creativity in the use of point-of-sale and brand support material.  Using a peer review process, the selection of winners is made by a majority of votes cast by all registered delegates in attendance at the conference.

Best New Instant and Best New Online Game Awards recognize the efforts made to create and communicate the innovative attributes of new Instant and Online games and their potential for increased sales.

Powers Awards are presented in recognition of the significant contributions lottery and vendor employees have made through exceptional job performance.  These awards are named in honor of the late Edward J. Powers, the “Father of U.S. Lotteries.”    Each year, lottery directors have the opportunity to nominate employees and vendor personnel who have made outstanding contributions to their lottery organizations or to the industry.

Ott Brown NASPL Scholarship was established in recognition of Ott Brown, the late president of the Connecticut Lottery Corporation.  This award represents much of what was important to Ott and much of how he lived his life - creating opportunities for people to learn and grow.  NASPL awards one lottery professional the Ott Brown NASPL Scholarship each year.  This scholarship enables the recipient to participate in the week-long NASPL Lottery Leadership Institute at no cost.

Entries in all of the above categories are accepted from NASPL member lotteries or their advertising agencies only.  All entries must have been produced or implemented between May 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010, and media entries need not have run to qualify.
